Wendell Wayne Bennett, 90, of Montgomery, Alabama passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026. Wayne is survived by his son, Michael Bennett, (Kay) of Wetumpka, his six grandchildren, and his seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by Mary Griffin Bennett, his wife of 54 years, Mark Bennett, his son and Melissa Bennett, his infant daughter. Born in Red Level and raised in McKenzie, Wayne’s 42-year career with the Alabama Department of Public Health brought him to Montgomery, where his life and the lives of his family flourished. He was a dedicated member of Dalraida church of Christ for over 60 years. He always enjoyed watching his grandchildren's ball games and traveling with Mary around the country, especially their favorite spots: the Great Smoky Mountains, the Florida orange groves, and the beaches of the Gulf Coast. A family graveside service was conducted on February 24th by Minister Bob McKee at Morrow Schoolhouse Cemetery in Georgiana. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
