It is with heavy hearts that we say farewell, to our beloved mother, Sarah M. Holloway, who departed her earthly body on February 18, 2016 and is now present with the Lord. Sarah was born on April 24, 1921 to the late James Thomas Batten and Sarah Agnes Batten in the home of her grandparents Calvin and Ella Batten of Batten's Crossroads, Alabama.
Sarah lived in Orlando in her youth, graduating from Orlando High School in 1940. She made her profession of faith in Jesus and was baptized at North Park Baptist Church in Orlando. She married the late Walter Caleb Holloway of Georgiana, Alabama, and moved to Eglin AFB after the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. Sarah was born with an entrepreneurial spirit. She loved people and she was well loved. Sarah a 24-hour a day lady that knew how to enjoy life. She gave her family moral training and good work ethics. She never dictated to her children but encouraged them to work through the difficulties of life. Her five children are a tribute to her positive and loving nature.
She is survived by four of her five children, Barbara (Duke) Young, Bill (Betty) Holloway, Rob (Linda) Holloway, Debbie (Mike) Obert, and deceased son, Tom (Donna) Holloway, 10 Grand Children, 16 Great Grand Children and a sister, Rosalie (Bud) Adams, plus several Nieces and one Nephew.
She will be buried beside her husband at the Morrow Cemetery in Georgiana, Alabama with family members present. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016 from the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. in lieu of flowers the family requests you donate to the Cystic Fibrosis Research Foundation, Cancer Research or Heart Fund.
