Graveside Service for Mrs. Ruth Lanier Hester "Annie Ruth", 95, of McKenzie will be held at 2pm on Friday August 7 2020 at Bushfield Cemetery with Pastor Alvin Blackburn officiating. Mrs. Hester passed away Thursday in Evergreen.

She is survived by her son Stephen Hester; daughters Lisa Baldwin, Anne Smitherman, Kathy Ruth Hester, and Pamela Skipper; grandchildren Lee Popwell, Michelle Tyler, Daphne Burgard, Catherine Dearling, Keith Kirkland, and Kenny Kirkland; and 15 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Mack Willard Hester; children Joseph M. Hester and William Lee Popwell.

Annie Ruth was a writer, poet, and had multiple books published. She wrote a column for the Evergreen Courant for many years. She loved to garden and raise all kinds of animals. She loved her kids and her grandkids. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
