Obituary

Ruby Faye Gipson passed away peacefully at her home on March 20, 2026 at the age of 92. Faye was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and a cherished friend to many. She was also a proud business owner and a pillar of the Georgiana community, known for her kindness, dedication, and unwavering work ethic.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. from the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home, with Bro. Jeff Walker officiating. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery, Georgiana, Alabama with Johnson Funeral Home directing.

Faye was born on December 31, 1933. On October 29, 1949, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Gipson. Together, they shared 52 years of marriage before his passing. In 1959, Faye and Kenneth opened Gipson Service Station, which later became a Greyhound bus station as well. In 1975, they expanded their business by adding a florist, officially becoming Faye’s Florist. The business remained open for 66 years, closing just this past January. In those 66 years of business, Faye was comfort to countless families throughout the county during their time of loss. Faye also helped many brides throughout the years by creating beautiful flowers for their weddings, as well as for many years catering weddings, also. Faye’s Florist was your one stop shop for all your floral needs, gifts, gas, and snacks. Fayer hardly ever missed a day from being the one that greeted you with her warm smile when you came in the store. If there ever was a gem of Georgiana, she was it. She was the most precious, sweetest, and loving soul who touched everyone she met.

She is survived by daughter, Shirley (Ray) Hitson, son, Cecil Gipson; grandchildren: Michelle Spencer, Jesse (Lynette) Gipson, Candy (Jason) Stacks, Christy (Sam) Sawyer, and Courtney (Jimmy) Oliver; great-grandchildren: Heather Denson, Timothy Owens, Destiny Owens, Hannah Stacks, Austin Stacks, Dakota Sawyer, Sam Sawyer, Lizzie Oliver, Jay Oliver, Will Oliver; great-great-grandchildren: Jaxson Reeves, Baker Reeves, Malcolm Joiner, Marjorie Joiner, and Julian Spencer.

She was preceded in death by: Beloved husband, Kenneth Gipson, son, Kenneth O’Neal Gipson, parents, Velvia C Cross and Eddie Gorum, brother, Hobson Junior Martin, sister, Ima Jay Bush, brother, Hilton Cecil Gorum, sister, Francis Taylor Walker, and great-grandchild, Emma Grace Stacks.

The family would like to thank Michelle Waite, Shelia Peevy, Judy Gilmore, Ivy Creek Health, and Enhabit Hospice Care for all of their love and support over the past year.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Gorum, Jeff Walker, Donnie Gipson, Jimmy Oliver, Ken Reed, and Rickie Piggott.
