Richard Mack Castleberry passed away peacefully June 27, 2024 surrounded by his wife and grandchildren. He was born on October 9, 1955 in Fort Benning Georgia. He was a graduate of Greenville High School in 1973. He received a degree in welding from Reid State.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Betty Castleberry. One daughter Jessica Castleberry. Five grandchildren Kayla (Jesse) Webb, Hayden (Chasen) Giddens, Coburn Blackmon, Wiley Blackmon, and Liam Weathers. One great granddaughter Layla Webb. He is also survived by one sister Sandra (Jerry) Owens. Several nieces and nephews. One very close cousin Robert Burkett.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Wiley Castleberry and Audrey Burkett Castleberry

He spend most of his life as a hard working welder who took pride in his work. He worked 18 years at Rheem Manufacturing in Greenville Alabama, where he had the pleasure of working with many people he called friends and family. He continued his career retiring from Production Automation Incorporated in Montgomery Alabama.  He cherished each and every friendship he made over the years and would often share those memories with his family in his later years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He loved riding dirt roads and listening to classic rock. He enjoyed bonfires, barbecues, and good friends. Some of his favorite places to visit was Hugley Bridge, Halso Mill Road, and Cedar Creek. He was an avid book reader who had accumulated quite a collection of science fiction books. He also enjoyed watching Star Trek Episodes and military documentaries in his spare time.

After taking an early retirement due to illness He devoted his time to making memories with his grandchildren. He was a very loving grandfather. He has left his grandchildren with many wonderful memories all of which they will cherish for a lifetime. He was especially proud to welcome into the world his first great granddaughter this year.

He worked hard. He played hard. And he loved even harder.
