Ord Webster Garner, age 93, of Chuluota, Florida passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023, in Orlando, FL.
He was born on January 30, 1930, in Garland, AL. Ord, also known as PawPaw, was a loving and giving person who had a deep love for the Lord, his family and friends.
Ord had a passion for sharing his resources and love with others. His love of music led him to learn to play the organ at age 71, saying "you are never too old to learn something new". He enjoyed traveling, especially to the North Georgia mountains and throughout the Southeast U.S.
He cherished his role as Pawpaw to his grandchildren Sarah Burke (John), Sheilah McAnney (Chris), Jennifer Garner, Anna Phen (Cole), DJ Eubanks (Tina), Rebecca Garner, Mary Garner and great-grandchildren Eli Burke, Noah Burke and baby boy Phen who will arrive in January 2024.
Ord is survived by his sister, Marie Brazwell; his daughter Rene Eubanks (David); his son Kari Garner (Sherry); many nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Webster & Mae Garner; his wife, Dollie Garner; his son, Anil Garner (Karlene); his brother Alvin Garner (Jane); and his sister Delilah Robinson (Thomas).
Ord attended Garland Elementary School and McKenzie High School. He furthered his education at Drakes Business College in Burmingham, AL.
During the Korean War, Ord served as an Army Supply Sergeant from 1951-1953. His military service was a source of pride for him.
After his military service, Ord embarked on a successful career. He worked in the chemical industry as a warehouse supervisor at F.H. Ross Co. in Columbus, GA form 1953-1964. He then moved to Norcross, GA and worked as a truck driver and warehouse supervisor at F.H. Ross/ Ashland Chemical Co. in Doraville, GA, where he remained until his retirement in 1994.
Ord served his Lord by becoming involved in a church in whatever community he lived in AL, GA, and FL. He served as a deacon in several churches and sang in choirs.
In his free time, Ord enjoyed audio/visual reproduction, bowling, listening to and singing Southern Gospel music and gardening. These hobbies brought him joy and relaxation.
Due to schedule change, Graveside only Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. at Mount Olive West Cemetery, Grace, Alabama with Brother Allen Joyner officiating with Johnson Funeral Home directing.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Gideons International; Sweet Home Baptist Church, AL; Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, AL or Community Church of God, Geneva FL.
