Mrs. Marilyn Elizabeth Sims, age 96, a lifetime resident of Georgiana, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, April 24, 2026. Graveside services will be held at the Ervin (Burkett) Cemetery, 4426 Starlington Road, Georgiana, Alabama, on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Ronnie Boulware officiating and Johnson Funeral Home directing. 

Marilyn was born in Butler County on December 21, 1929, to Clark and Wilma Stinson. She was a graduate of Georgiana High School. She married J.C. Sims and enjoyed a beautiful life together with J.C. and their three children until his death in 2013. They were active in the community and loved being involved in the lives of their children and grandchildren. Marilyn enjoyed operating her beauty shop for over fifty years where her countless customers became lifelong friends. She made sure to tell each and every one of them about Jesus Christ and how to be saved. Her favorite things in life were her family and Bible study with her friends. Her well-worn Bibles full of personal notes tell the story of her strong relationship with Christ. 

Marilyn leaves behind her: her children Max Sims, of Denver, North Carolina, Jerry Sims, of Hazel Green, and Judy Lowery, of Georgiana, Alabama. She also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
