It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Scott Anderson on June 1, 2025, at the age of 60, a resident of Alabaster, AL. Scott was a good man with such a kind heart. He was a devoted father to his son, Caleb, who was truly the apple of his eye. He was a loving son, brother, and a loyal friend to all who knew him. Scott cared for his friends, neighbors, and kidney dialysis group as if they were family. He prayed for them daily and cared deeply for their wellbeing. Scott's sheepish grin and dry wit will be missed. Scott's memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Scott began his life on February 17, 1965, at Homestead Air Force Base in sunny Miami, Florida. Scott grew up with his older sister as an Air Force brat. They traveled and lived all over the United States with their parents, Ralph James Anderson of Ellwood City, PA and Grace Burkett Anderson of Greenville, AL. Scott loved to play the drums and participated in the high school marching band while still in middle school. He was that good. Scott had a content childhood and grew up in a loving household. Scott accepted Christ at an early age and lived his faith daily.

After his high school graduation in 1983, he joined the Air Force Reserves as a Load Master on the C-130. (this was the last plane his dad flew) The big story that day at Maxwell Air Force Base was Major Ralph Anderon having the honor of swearing in his son, Scott, into the military. He served during the Iran-Iraq War. Scott was grateful for his time in the military and was honored to have served his country. He also picked up a new hobby while serving…scuba diving. That quickly became a passion of his and he enjoyed traveling to exotic beaches and to various reefs for exploration.  Scott enjoyed hiking and camping and often did so with his brother-in-law, Bryon.

Scott attended Auburn University at Montgomery in Montgomery, AL. He studied Computer Design in the Architectural Field and finished his education at Virginia College in Birhmingham, AL. He taught 3D Computer Modeling at Virginia College and later consulted for a period of time. Scott became quite skilled as a 3D Modeler/3D Artist. He had an eye for landscapes and was gifted in the area of landscaping design, which he enjoyed as a hobby for family and friends.

Scott retired in his early 50's due to medical reasons. The family would like to thank his friend Derek and his lifelong friend, Thomas. They were the brothers he never had. His cousin David was a gift from God and a true friend. He was always there to support Scott for which the family is eternally grateful. Scott's neighbors, along with the management and maintenance teams, were his family in Alabaster. His home healthcare nurses, his doctors and medical staff at various health facilities, his dialysis family, his driver, Earl, were a profound blessing to Scott and his family. A special thank you to Dr. S for all the care and support he gave Scott for over 15 years. Your kindness meant the world to him.

Scott is survived by his precious son, Kenneth Caleb Anderson, his loving mother and stepfather, Grace and Bill Mayfield, his devoted sister and his brother-in-law, Angie and Bryon Huyett, along with their sons, Connor and Garret. He leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph J. Anderson.

A graveside service for Scott will be held at the Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery on June 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.

Directions: From Alabaster take I-65 South to the 2nd Greenville exit/Hwy 10 West. In approximately 5 miles turn left onto S. Shackleville Rd/Hwy 38. Go roughly 4.7 miles and bare left onto Starlington Rd/Hwy 15. The church will be on the right and the cemetery will be on the left. 4606 Starlington Road, Georgiana, AL 36033  Please allow enough time to arrive as there is a music festival that day and traffic will be heavy.
