Ima Jay Bush passed away peacefully at her home on October 15, 2023, at the age of 91. Jay was a caring wife, sister, aunt, and friend to many.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2023, beginning at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home, with Brother Randy Sexton and Brother Jeff Walker officiating. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery, Georgiana, Alabama with Johnson Funeral Home directing.

Ima Jay was born to on December 9, 1931. She married Elmer Bush on October 2, 1953, in Pascagoula, MS. Ima Jay and Elmer were married for 46 years before he passed away. Ima Jay spent her time being a loving wife and worked 7 years at Nightengale Uniform before she retired to take care of her mother. After her mother passed, Ima Jay worked for 14 years at Gorum's Garage as the secretary/bookkeeper.

Ima Jay is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Bush; parents, Eddie Cecil and Veliva C Gorum; brother, Hobson Junior Martin; brother, Hilton Cecil Gorum; sister, Frances Taylor Walker; nephews, Edward O'Neal Gorum and Kenneth O'Neal Gipson. She is survived by her sister, Ruby Faye Gipson; nephews, Eddie (Michelle) Gorum, Cecil Gipson, Jeff (Dana) Walker, Wayne (Margaret) Martin; nieces, Shirley (Ray) Hitson, Theresa (John) Steadham, Judy Adman, Tracey Smith, and several great nephews and great nieces.

Ima Jay loved spending her time taking care of her family. Her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews and then later her great nieces and nephews were the highlight of her life. She spent her time cooking meals for them, running errands, helping with anything they asked, and was always up for spend the night company. Her fish and grits were the best in town. She loved having family over to pick scuppernongs and pears.

Ima Jay also loved her church family at Calvary Baptist Church. She was baptized and became a member there in 1971. She hardly missed a Sunday service up until she was unable to go. She considered her church family just like actual family and loved them dearly and enjoyed doing things for them.
