Arthur is survived by his devoted family: Daughter: Gloria Turner, Columbiana, Al, Son Gerald (Joyce) Smith, Molino, Fl, Daughter: Janice (Harvey) Milner, Montgomery, Al, and Son: Mike (Judy) Smith, Citronelle, Al. Arthur was also the proud great grandfather of 16 and great great grandfather of 2. Arthur will be remembered for being one of the best mechanics in south Alabama. He was always willing to help anyone in need. Many times strangers who were broken down were invited into his home for the night. He always had a kind word for everyone he met. He was totally devoted to his family and spent many happy years visiting and vacationing with his loving wife, children and grandchildren. Arthur spent most of his working years with Hartley Motor Company/McGill Motor Company and Service Manager. Although not formally educated, he was well read and had one of the keenest minds in his business setting. After his retirement he still spent time working on vehicles at his shop on the farm. He took great pleasure farming the land, bailing hay and tending to the cattle. He also took great pride in riding friends and family on his mule around the farm. Arthur served as volunteer fire chief of Georgiana for a number of years. He was a very active member of the Georgiana community, a strong supporter of Georgiana High School activities and a member of the Masons. Arthur was an active member of the First Baptist Church from 1945 until his recent illness. Arthur's remaining family grieves his passing but rejoice in knowing that Heaven's angels have a new member and he is having a glorious reunion with his loving wife, Catherine.
