Alvin "Pete" Goodwin

December 24, 1925

Alvin "Pete" Goodwin, 87 of Georgiana AL died January 5, 2013.

He was a self-employed logger and owned his own company for 38 years. He began his career as a logger in 1949 and retired in 1989. He considered his workers as friends and family and helped them over the years as he would his own family. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. He was also on the cemetery board for the Morrow School House Cemetery for many years.

He will be greatly missed but will always be remembered for his congenial personality, his mischievous smile, his passion for farming and gardening, and the vegetables that he and his wife shared with family, friends, neighbors and even strangers he came across at the coffee shop.

Pete is preceded in death by his Parents, Robert and Martha Goodwin; Brothers, Robert "Bunkham", Eugene "Sonboy", Sisters, Erma, Elisabeth "Tee", Earline, Eleanor and Maggie Joe.

He is survived by his beloved Wife of 66 years Juanita "Sally" Goodwin; Daughters, Juanita (Walter) Boyd of Tuscaloosa, AL, Judy (Mike) Smith of Citronella, Al, Gail (Ronnie) Seale of Greenville, AL, and Kaye (Larry) Lambert of Pensacola FL; Granddaughters, Lynn (Fred Gilreath) Ramey, Kim (Brad) McMillian, Martha (Russ) Whiddon, Kristy (Kevin) Houston; Grandsons, Kenny (Michelle) Perdue, Kevin (Gale) Smith, Sean (Crystal) Lambert, and Shanon Lambert; Great Grandchildren, Michael (Lindsey) Odom, Chad (Lindsey) Odom, Jarrod( Megan) McMillian, Jordan McMillian, Kaila Lambert, Blake Horton, Gracie Whiddon,Rachel Whiddon, Cole Whiddon, Clay Whiddon, Ian Seale, Lauren Houston and Landon Houston, Abbigayle, Allysa, McKenzie; Great-Great Grandchildren, Micah Odom,Jake McMillian and Mia; His Twin Brother, Jack of Robertsdale Al; and Nieces, Nephews, and many more relatives.

Visitation will be held Tuesday January 8, 2013 from 6:00pm until 8:00 at Johnson Funeral Home, Georgiana AL. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday January 9, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Sexton officiating. Interment will follow in Morrow Cemetery.

The family would like to express appreciation to his caregivers, Mel, Pearl, Brenda, Melissa, and to the Alacare Home Health care nurses, for the great care that he received over the last several months of his life.
